GROUP DESCRIPTION: We are a society of many different people aimed at bringing together nationalists, traditional conservatives, romantics and interested others into a wide network of debate, discussion and campaigning. We are interested in both original and past works of literature, current affairs, partisan politics, political thought, philosophy, poetry, music and the arts. Together we hope to help and push the national conservative movement forward and spread a broad and encompassing framework of nationalist political thought. Conservatism at a basic level is a deference towards tradition, where tradition refers to religious, cultural, and nationally defined beliefs and customs. The national community and the organic constitution of history is vital to conservative thought. The wisdom of the past, the importance of family, the imperfection and inequality of humans and the rejection of abstract reason, individualism, theory and utopianism are important. Conservatives also are disposed towards authority, hierarchy, prudence, prescription and the sanctity of private property. Conservatism is unique in that it is more a disposition than an ideology basing its political thought on experience and the organic community rather than abstract reason or utopianic aims. Furthermore in our recognition of the subjectivity of national perceptions and values, what it means to be conservative will vary over time and place, depending on tradition, culture, history, practicality and experience in its approach to matters. Conservatism has little to do with neo-liberalism and neo-conservatism that has emerged since the 1970's in Britain and America which are both abstract ideologies not dispositions. It must be stated that this group is in no way associated with the British Conservative Party or any other national Conservative Party, although its members and indeed members of any party are welcome. It must also be stated that libertarianism must not be confused with genuine conservatism, this often being the case. Nationalists and conservatives tend to staunchly oppose consumerism, materialism and globalism. Conservatives are concerned with tradition and the spirit of community and do not share the libertarian's ideological and abstract obsession with the 'individual' and the free market, which in its purest form can be close to promoting anarchism. Nationalism and national conservatism provide the only influential alternative to the current liberal consensus in European, American and many other establishments. We offer an alternative to globalist, materialist and internationalist establishments in their dismantling of the nation and provide a facebook focal point from which we can spread our shared conservatism and nationalism to others as a viable, intellectual, deep rooted and alternative political thought. Nationalism is the belief that the nation; a people of shared common ancestry, heritage, language and culture (ethnicity), should be self-determining and the state has a duty in positively promoting and defending the national culture. We recognise that some nations may develop a shared national identity between more than one ethnic group of similar cultural and ancestral outlook. However this is not an apology for radical multiculturalism; for a multi-national state where the indigenous nation is forced to accept and share power with ethnic groups that have not become a part of the nation through a long shared development in history, culture, tradition and kinship. Where this has not occurred it provides the grounds for a disastrous, unstable multi-national society and an disinherited indigenous peoples with diminished rights and freedoms of cultural expression. The nation-state should guarantee the existence of the nation, preserve its distinct identity, and protect the territory where the national culture and ethos are dominant. Indeed the state derives its legitimacy from the nation, the people, the polis, indeed legitimate citizens are members of the nation. Nationalism recognises the importance of the nation to the formation of morals and values that hold a stable society together. Nations are able to express themselves with freedom through a independent state and we oppose the current trend of making states mere agents of libertarian internationalism and liberal, multicultural ideology rather than reflective of national ethos and character and therefore of individuals. Ethnic and national identity contributes towards forming individual character and society's character both through the environment and through genetics. Thus it is the nation and its society that influence the moral outlook and values of its people. Indeed to loose ones nation is to loose ones values and morals and invite chaos, material indulgence and degeneration. Nationalism is not the same as fascism, Nazism or racial supremacism. An ethnic group forms a nation and has the right to maintain its own state. Whilst 'white' or 'black' is not an ethnicity, 'English', 'French,' 'Kurdish' or 'Polish' is. This is not to deny the importance of ancestry and kinship to ethnic and national identity. We are not civic-state patriots! Obviously kinship and ancestry is vital to ethnicity. To be English for instance one must have a link to English nation of the past and future through ancestry. It is the family link both genetic and ones environmental upbringing through being born of English parents, that passes the values and morals into the individual psyche that make you English (of course ones English community, school, work, village etc. also imparts this influence). Romanticism is the stress of, 'strong emotion as a source of aesthetic experience, placing new emphasis on such emotions as trepidation, horror, and the awe experienced in confronting the sublimity in untamed nature and its qualities that are "picturesque", both new aesthetic categories. It elevated folk art and custom, as well as arguing for a "natural" epistemology of human activities as conditioned by nature in the form of language, custom and usage.' Importantly National Romanticism stresses that the state derives its political legitimacy as an organic consequence of the unity of those it governs. Romantic ideas provide a key start by which to reject extreme rationalism, materialism and consumerism that pervades modern Europe and build an inspirational nationalist and conservative cultural and philosophical base. However of course, romanticism is a charged cultural element and we welcome national-conservatives who would not consider themselves Romanticists. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbP8Ux9pBys - a video celebrating the groups 600th member, reflects a mixture of nationalism, conservatism and romanticism through imagery as well as evoking some healthy debate. -------------------------------------- RULES REGARDING EXCLUSION - fascists, national socialists, white power supremicists etc. This group operates a strict policy of exclusion of those who would propagate or associate with the following groups. This is so we can maintain the intellectual dignity and stated principles of this society; our group boundaries. This is a 'club' of similarly minded people not a free for all. This is a group/society for nationalists, conservatives and romantics not for fascists or racist extremists. This group advocates democratic and peaceful means of promoting our cause and does not promote violent or inhumane treatment of ethnic minority groups. I suggest if you are of below you leave. - National Socialists (Nazi's). - 'White/Aryan nationalists' and the such like. Due to confusion I wish to qualify this. I do not mean European nationalists, those who are proud of their European ancestry and those who wish to preserve a European ethnicity. What I refer to is radical groups that see 'white' as synomonous with ethnicity, that see white as an identity in itself, that see white as superior, associate with radical groups like nazi's, skinheads, and refer to Aryan mystics and blood purity. A nation/ethnic group may have the ancestry of European tribes which is vital but 'white' in itself is not a nation. 'White nationalists' are seen in this light, and the above reference refers to these radical forms. Ethonationalists however are very welcome, and perhaps would be a better definition than the deceptive 'white nationalist' label. - Terrorist groups of any ideology - the use of terror tactics against civilians. - Racist anti-semitism is not welcome. - Promotors of violence to achieve political ends within democracies. - Fascists. - Racial Supremacists. - '14/88 Skinheads.' The key difference between a European ethno-nationalist and white nationalist is that whilst a white nationalist will see race as all important and his identity an ethno-nationalist will consider ethnicity and nationality as important, the organic moral community, and race as merely a coincidental. It is the difference between I am white and I am English therefore incidentally white. It goes without saying that those which enter the group just to cause trouble rather than be constructive towards the groups stated principles will be removed.
